MSHIMA's President's Message
Stacey Upton, MSHIMA President 2010-2011
May 2011 President’s Address Dear MSHIMA members, I hope everyone is planning on attending our annual meeting in Jackson June 20-22. We have a great agenda that should attract all areas in our profession and I look forward to seeing you all.In February our nominating committee began trying to fill our ballot for MSHIMA officers. They worked diligently and sent out multiple emails to the membership and received little response. We had 1 member per position willing to place their name on the ballot. This being the case, there was no need to hold an official election. If anyone has any suggestions on ways to get membership more involved or if you wanted to hold an office and you didn‘t receive notification we needed nominations, please see me at the annual meeting. There is still time to serve on a committee and I will entertain any suggestions. I would like to say a special thank you to all of the board members and committee chairs for their support throughout this year. My year would not have been successful without your tremendous support. Our board is made up of members all throughout the state of MS. On April 27, many of our lives were affected by the devastating tornados that hit our state. I grew up and still live in Smithville, MS where the EF 5 tornado hit that day. Thankfully my home and all of my family were safe. I lost several church members and everything I grew up with including my church I‘ve attend all of my 31 years the school that I attended K-12. If you said a prayer or sent a donation to our devastated town, I sincerely appreciate your kindness. Thanks, Stacey Upton RHIT, CCS 2010-2011 MSHIMA President |
